A big trend with brides today is to look into the past for all things antique and vintage. Brides are choosing vintage and making it look new again all at the same time. The following are ways to do this:
Retro-minded brides love all things vintage including birdcage veils. These are veils that drape just over the forehead to the lash line and are adorned with feathers, beads and buttons. This is a great accessory to go with if you are going with a lace gown. Speaking of a lace gown, using the lace of a dress say from your grandmother is a great antique staple. It will also be special to her that you are wearing something that she once did on her big day.
Grooms are also embracing the old feel on vintage. In his attire, instead of renting a tux, wearing a suit is very vintage. Grey is a very popular color right now in men’s wear. A tailor made suit in tan or brown is also a great alternative to the black tux.
There are certain flowers that are great for this style. Choosing to use calla lilies, hydrangeas, peonies and English garden roses are a very vinatge feel. Adding crystals and wrapping the stems of bouqets in lace add a nice touch.
Color is a great way to convey a vintage themed wedding. For example, try using tea stained lace overlays on lilac toned linen and soft tones such as peach and creme flowers. Those lighter colors are going to really bring the old look together. Silver and gold candlesticks dispersed throughout the reception add to the old world theme as well.
A vintage wedding is something that all of your guests young or old can enjoy. It is so fun and the differnent accents that you incorporate are things that they might have never seen before, and it will make your day more memorable to them as well. You will be the talk of the town from here on out!
